Head of boarding
Location: NAS Ningbo
We’re looking to recruit a Head of Boarding to join our NAS Ningbo school, a Nord Anglia Education school.

Opened in September 2018, NAS Ningbo provides a state of the art, world-class teaching and learning environment with a total student capacity of 3,500. Providing a unique international learning experience, NAS Ningbo offers students the best of eastern and western education resources and philosophies for students aged 6-18. The bilingual program is based on the Chinese K-12 curriculum blended with globally respected international curriculum elements and teaching methods. Students will experience a solid foundation of Chinese culture, whilst equipping them with the knowledge and skills they will need to be successful in an increasingly globalized word.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Head of Boarding, you will
- Lead the team responsible for attending to the needs of boarding students and ensure students can comfortably relate to the adults in charge of their well-being.
- Oversee the daily routines and duties involved in the smooth running of the boarding houses to ensure physical and emotional welfare needs of the students are met.
- Maintain safe, secure and happy boarding houses where students are secure physically and emotionally.
- Focused on developing a high performing team, supervise and organise the staff in the boarding houses.
- Along with the support of the school leadership team, be responsible for establishing, building and maintaining positive relationships between boarding staff, teaching staff, students and parents.
ABOUT YOU
You will be able to adapt quickly to our fast-paced international environment with below specifications:
- Possess a bachelor’s degree.
- More than 1 year boarding leader experience.
- A recognised First Aid Certificate.
- Fluently both in Chinese and English.
- Excellent counselling experience and skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Relates well and responds effectively to the requests of students, parents and staff.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills. Able to use initiative and forward planning in order to meet deadlines.
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated and flexible committed to providing a positive boarding experience for all students.
- Ability to work and perform well in a sometimes demanding and stressful environment by following set procedures and adhering to school policies and guidelines.
- Ability to manage pastoral care issues of boarders and follow disciplinary procedures when required.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils. And the willingness to undertake appropriate child protection training when required.
- Seeking out and implementing new ideas and innovative methods to raise the school’s level of achievement.
Keen to collaborate and share your specialist expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students.

OUR GLOBAL ACADEMIC RESULTS
The 2020-2021 school year was the strongest ever in terms of Nord Anglia Education’s academic results. For the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, our students achieved a 36.2 global point average and a 98% pass rate, with over 20 students earning a perfect score of 45. In the A-levels, our students achieved 65.4% of grades at A*-A, along with 83.7% at A*-B, with a group-wide pass rate of 99.4% and seven schools achieving a perfect 100% pass rate. In this year’s I/GCSE results, 59.6% of students achieved A*-A grades, with a group-wide pass rate of 89.5% and 13 Nord Anglia schools achieving a perfect 100% pass rate
